Governance

The Sheffield College was established as a Further Education Corporation under the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 and became incorporated on 1 April 1993. The statutory Instrument and Articles of Government ensure that the Governing Body acts in accordance with legislation by specifying the responsibilities of the Governing Body  and the Principal;  membership and arrangements for members’ appointment; framework for the Governing Body’s procedures and operation. The Instrument and Articles of Government are supplemented by the Governing Body's own Standing Orders and Code of Conduct.

Our Search Committee (see below) is responsible for considering and shortlisting nominations and expressions of interest in respect of vacancies on the Governing Body. As and when vacancies arise we issue a public call for expressions of interest. If you would like us to hold an expression of interest on file for future consideration, you are welcome to complete a form and to send it by email to clerktothegovernors@sheffcol.ac.uk.
