Apprentice Pharmacy Assistant

Qualifications Required

4 x GCSEs A*-C (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science (double)

Full Description

As an apprentice you will be working as a Pharmacy Assistant and be expected to work as part of the team.

Your duties may vary depending on the needs of the pharmacy, but may include selling over the counter medicines, storing stock and general housekeeping.

The apprentice will study for the Level 2 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills and Pharmaceutical Science.

A pre-requisite for the role is to display a thirst to be flexible, pro-active and a respectful
team player.

You will be responsible to the Pharmacy Manager

Job Descriptors:

An understanding of the rules, processes and regulations behind pharmaceutical service
selling over the counter products - under supervision
managing online orders
checking orders and invoices
ordering and storing pharmaceutical stock
Administration duties
General housekeeping

Working Week

Monday - Friday
9am - 5pm

Possible progression to level 3 apprenticeship for Pharmacy Technician.

Training to be Provided

BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Pharmaceutical Science
(Delivered on line and assessed in work place by a qualified Sheffield College Assessor)

NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills.
(Assessed in the work place by a qualified Sheffield College Assessor.)

Functional Skills in Maths and English.
(Delivered on line by Sheffield College Tutor)

Other Information

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.40 per hour (From October 1st 2016 this will be increasing by 3% to £3.40 per hour). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
