Apprentice Hair Stylist

An outgoing, motivated and enthusiastic individual who aspires to learn and develop high standards of hair styling skills is sought for this role. You will join a highly professional team within our vibrant, and successful unisex Hair Salon and have the opportunity to progress to advanced levels of training within the new Hair Professional Apprentice Standard.

Qualifications Required

2 x GCSE Grade A*-D English & Maths or equivalents

Full Description

Expert mentoring and support will be given with the anticipation that the successful candidate will proceed to the next level and develop into an experienced full time stylist with multiple skill sets.

The nature of the business demands working at weekends.

Reporting to the Salon Owners the key responsibilities are likely to include:

Meet and greet clients – walk in and appointed service
Provide consultation services for hairdressing - male and female
Drying & styling hair
Colouring hair
Dealing with all hair types
Handling telephone enquiries and appointments.
Handling money with responsibility for the till.
General housekeeping – cleaning, restocking products.
Promoting products and services
Working in a team

Working Week

40 hours to include week end working
£3.50 per hour
4 days in workplace, 1 day in college

Future Prospects

Sustained employment with further accredited training is the expectation for the successful apprentice who successfully completes the apprenticeship and end point assessment.

Other Information

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
