About this Course

The Level 2 AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification is the first step of our professional accounting programme. This course is designed for people who wish to develop a career in Accounting. It is suitable for accounting staff who wish to enhance their skills and qualifications. It is also suitable for individuals who have achieved a Level 1 accounting qualification or those who wish to change career.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of A* - C (4+) grades in GCSE English and Mathematics (or Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy). A reasonable level of skill on IT equipment will be expected of applicants. 


5 unit exams, each with a pass mark of 70%. Marks gained on these exams are then collated and an overall percentage for the course is calculated. This percentage is converted into a Pass/Merit/Distinction grade. The fee for the course includes one attempt at each assessment, any resits will attract a £60 fee.

Success on this course can lead to progression to our AAT Level 3 courses as well as career development. AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualifications open up huge opportunities nationally and internationally. The qualifications are recognised throughout the world; from small local enterprises to the biggest multinationals, there is a demand for qualified accounting staff. You can progress in your career by gaining further AAT qualifications at Level 3 and 4. All the UK professional accountancy bodies recognise the AAT accounting qualification and may offer AAT members exemptions.

The college fee for this course is a maximum of £632.50, depending on household income or receipt of benefits. The exact cost of the course will be discussed during enrolment. 
Classes available (these will operate on a first come, first serve basis): 
  • Group 1, Thursdays 0915-1215 starting 23rd September finishing July 2022 
  • Group 2, Thursdays 1315-1615 starting 23rd September finishing July 2022 
  • Group 3, Wednesdays 1745-2045 starting 22nd September finishing July 2022 
  • Group 4 (January start, fast track), Tuesdays AND Thursdays 1745-2045 starting 18th January finishing July 2022 

Fee payments
  • If your employer is paying your fees, we would need to see a letter (headed paper) that confirms that they agree to pay the full fee or the amount of contribution towards. 
  • If you are paying the fees yourself, you can either pay the fee in full for a 10% discount, or arrange to pay in installments. Please let us know if you are paying fees so we can arrange for a member of the finance team to contact you with your payment options.

Extra Costs

Student membership of the AAT will be required. This costs £150 but students should wait until the course starts before joining. There is also a booklist totaling £50 which will be provided upon enrolment to the course.
