A comprehensive course that will introduce you to the key elements of animal care whilst developing your personal/social and employability skills. This is an ideal starting point for those students wishing to pursue a career working in animal sanctuaries, kennels and catteries or grooming salons.
This course will provide you with a comprehensive grounding for a possible rewarding career within the Animal Care setting. The course will give you the opportunity to achieve the knowledge, understanding and skills required to progress further in education.
There is a classroom element of the course where you will enhance your personal and social skills and employability skills. There is no work experience or placement as part of this course. You will study Functional Maths and English as part of your course, with an exam when you are ready.
You will study animal accommodation, housing and first aid.
There are no formal entry requirements but those in education are expected to complete their current learning programme. You will be asked to complete an assessment of your Maths and English skills at interview to help decide which level of study is right for you.
Practical Assessment and Coursework
On successful completion you could progress on to the Animal Care Entry 3 or an EDEXCEL BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Land-Based Studies should enable you to progress into career such as: working in animal sanctuaries, kennels & catteries, animal charities, pet shops and grooming salons.
