This course is a broad introduction to art, craft and design using a range of media and techniques.
You will learn from experienced and specialised art and design tutors who will be able to offer advice and support in terms of your studies and future goals. Classes are delivered in well- resourced art studios and IT rooms as well as specialist workshops for photography, printmaking, ceramics and textiles. Your course will include tutor-led demonstrations, presentations and regular tutorials to support your studies. Course enrichment activities can include visits to galleries and museums.
Key Areas of Study
4 GCSEs grades A* - E (or acceptable alternatives) including English Language and an art-related subject or portfolio of art work.
Your work is continually assessed and you will be graded on each project. A pass must be achieved to continue to the next stage. At the end of the course you will undertake a final project which concludes in a final grade and the outcomes with be exhibited in an end of year show.
Successful completion of this course with good attendance and punctuality and tutor recommendation can lead to our Art and Design Level 2 course or another appropriate course.
Students are required to provide their own basic equipment as well as pay a studio fee of approximately £50 towards the cost of the materials kit provided by the college and you are expected to contribute towards the cost of trips and visits.
