Barbering City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma

This is a practical course that will equip you with the knowledge and skills to work within the barbering industry.


About the Course

All aspects of practical work are carried out in a closely simulated industrial environment on clients.

You will study the following core and specialist units:

* Health and Safety
* Client consultation
* Shampooing/conditioning the host
* Styling men's hair
* Cutting men's hair
* 2D Patterning techniques in hair
* Cutting men's facial hair
* Basic colour correction (optional)

You will also be given the opportunity to take part in hairdressing competitions and hairdressing design skills, manufacturer's courses and visits to trade shows.

In addition to this you must spend one day per week in a commercial salon on a work placement.


Key Units




Assessment

This will compromise of both Practical assessment & exams – internal online exams will be taken periodically throughout the course. Pass rate for each exam taken is 70%. Practical assessments will be carried out in the salon following training and practice. You will be required to work on real clients.
It is essential that you have a number of male clients to bring along to sessions to ensure a quality experience.  


Future Opportunities

This is a professional qualification which will provide you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently in the Barbering Industry. This course is designed for people who wish to develop a career in Barbering. Successful student’s progress onto NVQ level 3 or an Advanced Apprenticeship in Barbering.

Extra Costs

You will need to purchase a professional uniform and kit. Order forms will be supplied on your first day.

The uniform must be worn at all times when in salon and in addition to this you must wear full black shoes.
