This course is for you if you have a lively and enquiring mind, a willingness to explore new ideas and you have a keen interest in business and management. You will learn all about the exciting world of business and have the opportunity to apply your learning in a practical and realistic way. This is course also equips you well for further study at University or employment in a wide range of industries.


About the Course

The BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Business provides you with an exciting opportunity to gain a wide variety of knowledge in multiple business sectors. You will study 18 units over a 2 year period (9 each year) and be assessed at Pass, Merit or Distinction level for these.

The course provides you with invaluable and transferable skills such as the working with others, IT skills, organisational skills and many more.

BTEC courses are assessed by coursework including practical assignments, discussions and presentations. Coursework will be based around practical business exercises and you will be encouraged to utilise your own experiences of business you may have developed through part-time work or work placements.


Key Units

Year 1 Units include -
The Business Environment, Business Resources, Introduction to Marketing, Business Communications, Creative Product Promotion, Recruitment and Selection, Human Resource Management, Understanding Retail and Fashion Retailing.


Year 2 Units include -
Market Research, Development Planning for a Career in Business, Managing a Business Event, Developing Teams in Business, Aspects of Contract Law, Business and Economic Environment, International Business, Business Ethics and Business and the Economic Environment.

This course opens up a wide range of opportunities such as the ability to progress on to a degree or foundation degree in a wide range of subjects such as business, marketing, IT, accountancy, teaching or law. Alternatively students could enter employment in various areas of business such as accounts and finance, human resources, local government, logistics, marketing or retailing.
