This unit will teach students how to plan a wedding cake design, cover the basic techniques used for covering wedding cakes (including popular surface decorations) and ensure that you know the best and safest way to store your creations once they're complete.
The wedding industry is a rapidly growing market, and the demand for elaborate wedding cakes is increasing year on year.
This unit will teach students the basic techniques that are typical of wedding cake decoration, including different types of coating a popular surface decoration techniques. You will also learn the correct methods of storing the finished product and cover current health, safety and hygiene legislation.
Students will also be encouraged to develop their planning skills by creating detailed working drawings of their designs to accompany their practical skills.
Key Areas of Study
Ideally, students will have completed a Level 1 Cake Decorating qualification or have evidence of former experience (e.g. alternative qualifications or private courses/tuition).
The learner will develop basic practical skills and produce working drawings to support the practical work.
