Carpentry & Joinery Level 2

This course will give you the opportunity to expand on the skills you have learnt on the level 1 course.

About the Course

You will need to bring your own safety boots, wood working tools for workshop sessions and classroom equipment for theory sessions. All other equipment will be provided. You need to attend regularly and be on time for every lesson.

Key Units

You will build on skills you have developed using hand tools, portable power tools and creating basic woodworking joints to include first fixing and second fixing. You will learn about how to erect structural carcassing, set up and use a circular saw and carry out maintenance work.

The level 2 qualification includes topics on carrying out safe working practices and communicating with others as well as knowledge of building methods and construction technology.

Functional Skills lessons also form an important part of your course. They include maths and English to help improve your skills in these areas.

Your progress will be reviewed regularly in tutorial sessions. Students are expected to study independently in their own time, building up their knowledge of carpentry & joinery.

Entry Requirements

Level 1 Carpentry and Joinery Diploma and a minimum of Entry 3 Functional Skills.


  • Your theoretical knowledge will be assessed by an online exam and unit tests. 
  • Your practical skills will be assessed by practical tests and a practical exam.
