Catering & Hospitality Level 1 Certificate / Diploma

This course will give you a basic introduction to the catering industry. You will learn the basic skills and processes required to prepare you for work in this industry at an operational level.


About the Course

This course is suitable for anyone wanting to start their journey towards a rewarding career in catering. As an introduction to the industry you will develop skills and knowledge in both kitchen and restaurant service, covering all the basic skills, techniques and processes required to prepare you for work at an operational level. Most students would normally start at level 1 but for some students level 2 may be more appropriate. Progression onto level 2 then onto level 3 courses will develop your skills further


What will I learn?

You will spend time doing practical activities in the kitchens in order to develop your basic cookery skills. In addition you will prepare food for the college food outlets and experience a realistic working environment by working in the kitchen of Sparks Restaurant during a lunch service.


On another day you will prepare Sparks restaurant for lunch or dinner service and then practice and develop your food service skills when serving customers in the restaurant.


What else will I gain?

You will also work towards furthering your achievement level of Maths and English.

The Food Safety Level 2 certificate is also included within the course.

Where does this Lead
