Construction & Built Environment HNC

This is a broad based course to enable you to develop your career in the civil engineering industry, not job specific or tailored to an individual’s present post. The Pearson Edexcel BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment has also been validated and approved by the Institution of Civil Engineers. This qualification has also been validated and approved by the Construction Skills Standards and Qualifications Validation Group (SQVG), which represents the Construction and Built Environment Sector.


About the Course

This course is designed to give you the technical knowledge and skills required for a 
Higher Technician in the Construction Industry.
You will develop the learning and study skills appropriate to Higher Education. It is a broad based course to enable you to develop your career in the Construction Industry. It is not job specific or tailored to an individual’s current post.


Key Units

You will study the following:

Core Units - 

  • Design principles and applications for construction and the built environment
  • Science and materials for construction and the built environment
  • Health, safety and welfare for construction and the built environment
  • Group project in the construction industry

Specialist Units - 
  • Construction and maintenance of buildings
  • Conversion and adaptation of buildings
  • Building Control Procedures and Legislation
  • IT Applications for Construction

Level 3 Diploma in Construction, Building Services or Civil Engineering or A Levels grade C or above in Physics, Maths & Science


Assessment

Assessment is 100% coursework based. 


Where does this Lead

This course leads to the Pearson Edexcel BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment which can be topped-up to an honours degree in a related discipline. 

Students can also progress into employment within the industry including in careers such as Construction Management, Surveying and Civil Engineering.
