Drones and quad-copters with high quality cameras are becoming increasingly affordable for both film makers and hobbyists alike. Constantly in the news, though not always in a positive sense, it is essential that users learn how to fly and film from the air competently, safely and legally. This is an exciting way to produce visually stunning video material, this course will support you in becoming both a capable pilot and aware of your responsibilities.
This course is aimed at anyone who wants to learn how to fly a quad-copter or drone to take video footage or photographs. It will be useful for those wishing to fly quad-copters for personal use or as an introduction prior to gaining a qualification to fly them commercially with an appropriate provider. No additional materials need to be purchased. The college will provide all of the required equipment for the course. Appropriate clothing and footwear for outdoor use is recommended.
The course deals with the practical side of successfully setting up, controlling and recording material with professional level quad-copters. It also covers some of the more important safety, legal and ethical implications and issues that can arise when recording aerial images.
No prior experience is necessary. The course does cover practical skills many of which will take place outdoors.
