Education & Training Award L3

This qualification is for post-16 teacher training only and provides an introduction for those who work/want to work as teachers or trainers in the Lifelong Learning sector (i.e. further, adult and community education; work-based learning and the voluntary sector) providing they are qualified/experienced in the subject they intend to teach at the appropriate level.


About the Course

This qualification is for post-16 teacher training only and provides an introduction for those who work/want to work as teachers or trainers in the Lifelong Learning sector (i.e. further, adult and community education; work-based learning and the voluntary sector) providing they are qualified/experienced in the subject they intend to teach at the appropriate level.


The course is aimed at candidates who:
  • would like/require an introduction into teaching in the lifelong learning sector
  • are seeking career progression within their area of work
  • will be/are seeking progress towards qualified teacher status (QTLS)


Key Units

Unit 1: Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships

Unit 2: Understanding Inclusive Learning & Teaching
Unit 3: Plan, Prepare & Deliver 20 - 30 minutes of Microteaching
Unit 4: Principles of Assessment

Students must complete all four units to complete the qualification. 



Entry Requirements

  • A Level 3 qualification in the area you wish to teach (or evidence of extensive experience) 
  • A Level 2 qualification in English Language
Candidates must complete an initial assessment before they can be accepted on to the course. 


Assessment

  • 10 assignments
  • 2 journals
Assignments are set on a weekly basis and you should expect to receive regular and prompt feedback on your progress. 


Where does this Lead

This qualification is for post-16 teaching and training only and aims to prepare students for employment in the Lifelong Learning sector (i.e. further, adult and community education; work-based learning and voluntary).


Future Opportunities

Learners can progress to the Certificate in Education or PGCE, providing they meet the entry requirements. 


Many workplaces require the AET qualification as a prerequisite for internal progression.
