Engineering Level 2 Diploma

This course will help develop your Engineering skills to keep up with rapidly developing technologies. It will give you the knowledge and skills you will need to meet the needs of modern engineering industries.


About the Course

One year full time course, broadly equivalent to 4 GCSE's at C grade, aimed mainly at school leavers. You will have the opportunity to learn about the design, development, manufacture and maintenance of engineering products and systems. It is largely classroom based with one two hour practical workshop event per week.

Some students may have the opportunity to take part in trips abroad such as recent visits to; Volvo in Brussels, BMW in Munich or Skoda in Prague to learn about how the Engineering concept, you learn about in the classroom are applied in the workplace in large Engineering firms.

You will be required to study functional skills or GCSE English or maths if you do not already hold a minimum of GCSE grade C. (Many universities and employers ask for a minimum of GCSE grade C in both maths and English).



Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at A*-D or acceptable alternatives, must include English Language, Maths and Science. 


Assessment

The level 2 diploma consists of 12 units. Assessment is a mixture of external and internal assessment. 2 units are externally assessed with students sitting one hour exams. The remaining units are marked internally via set assignment work.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering or an Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship, degree level qualification, or employment in industry.
