This is an online course designed to help you improve your Maths skills. This will be useful to you in your everyday life and perhaps also in preparation for further study.
The course will cover number work, shape, space and measures and data handling.
Will the course suit me?
Maths Functional Skills is suitable for people living in the United Kingdom who do not already have a Functional Skills qualification and who find it difficult to get to a traditionally taught classroom-based course.
Maths Functional Skills online requires students to be fluent speakers of English. This course is not suitable for students who are still learning to speak and write English as an additional language to their home language. There are other courses available at the college that can support you to reach the required level of English.
The course aims to enable students to learn maths at a basic level for everyday use.
You will gain confidence in the use of Functional Maths.
Those wishing to move onto to GCSE study at a later date will find this qualification will provide the essential skills necessary for success at a higher level.
Normally a Grade D at GCSE for Level 2. Those without a Grade D will be considered for L1. Applicants will be given an online Pre Course Assessment and those considered suitable will be offered a place if you are ready for Level 2, if not you will be advised to do Level 1 or another course.
The course will also enable you to prepare for GCSEs or Access courses, improve your job prospects and prepare you for every day life. At the end of the course you will be expected to sit a nationally recognised exam.
