This course is a broad introduction to creative digital design.
During the course you will make playable 2D video games, practise professional photography skills and also create graphics for the web as well as for clothes such as t-shirts.
During the year you will also explore enterprise and vocational employment. You’ll create a digital portfolio and be encouraged not only to consider how you can get paid for your work but also how to market your products and services online via social media.
This course is 70% practical and 30% theoretical. You will always work to complete assignments using research, idea development, concept work, final designs and evaluation.
You will study Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths if you do not already hold a minimum of Grade C. Many universities and employers ask for a Grade C in both English and Maths.
4 GCSEs grades A* - E (or acceptable alternatives). Must include English Language.
Most of your work can be achieved in college time but you will be encouraged to work independently and do some study at home. This level 1 qualification is assessed through the course work you produce throughout the year. You will need to be able to work to targets and deadlines.
We encourage all students to progress to Level 2 courses, apprenticeships or employment.
