Central YMCA Qualification Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing for candidates aged 18 and over.
This fitness course is designed to prepare instructors to work in fitness gyms and facilities. It provides the skills, knowledge and competence to instruct safe and effective exercise for different equipment in a fitness facility. The course is run over 20 weeks and each lesson includes a mixture of theory and practical sessions.
There are 6 key elements of the course, these are: Anatomy and physiology for Exercise
Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health
Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
Planning gym based exercise
Instructing gym based exercise
YMCA Level 1 or equivalent sport and fitness qualification.
Assessment is completed by:
Learners are expected to be training regularly during the course and it is recommended you should be using fitness facility on 2 or more days a week.
For your practical assessment you will need to bring a client who is a minimum of 16 yrs old, healthy and able bodied.
The 2 course exams are taken during week 8 and week 16 of the course. The practical exams take place during week 17 -20 of the course.
You will be required to wear suitable sports or fitness clothing during all practical lessons and your final practical summative assessment.
