Entry Requirements
Level 2 Hair and Media Make up Diploma or Level 2 Beauty Therapy plus Cosmetic make-up and a minimum of functional skills at level 1 or acceptable alternatives such as ESOL.
 
 

Hair & Media Make Up Level 3 Diploma

This is an advanced vocational qualification which focuses on the underlying principles and practices of professional make-up.


Key Units

You will study core and specialist units in:


  • Fashion and photographic hair and make-up
  • Prosthetics – bald caps,
  • Facial hair and make-up 
  • Period hair and make-up 
  • Vintage hair and make-up 
  • Casualty make up effects
  • Wig dressing
  • Camouflage make-up 
  • Body painting
  • Beard and moustache trimming

You will be asked to purchase a uniform which must be worn at all times when in the studio. You will also need to have some key pieces of equipment. Your tutor will discuss this with you. Those in financial hardship can apply for help from the college's Learner Support Fund.

There will be opportunities to go on trips relevant to the Hair and Make-up industry. Previous trips include: The IMATS Media Make-up exhibition in London, The Salon International and The Alternative Hair Show in London and The Clothes Show Live in Birmingham.

Functional Skills lessons also form an important part of your course. This may include Maths or English to help you improve your skills in these areas. You will be given passwords for our online learning materials to support your learning.

You will be expected to complete a range of work experience outside of your programme hours.



Entry Requirements

Level 2 Hair and Media Make up Diploma or Level 2 Beauty Therapy plus Cosmetic make-up and a minimum of functional skills at level 1 or acceptable alternatives such as ESOL.


Assessment

The course is assessed entirely by coursework therefore you need to have good time management skills and be able to work to targets and deadlines. Practical assessments will be carried out following training and practice.
