Health & Social Care BTEC Ext Certificate L2

This course is designed to help you build the knowledge and skills needed when working with people in a caring environment.


About the Course

The course is in two parts. You must successfully complete part one in order to progress to part two.


Key Units

Part One: Personal and Social Development

In the first 5 weeks you will complete the Award at Entry 3 which helps you to develop your own personal and work skills. 

You will study 3 units as follows:
  • Interview skills
  • Self assessment
  • Career progression
A high level of attendance and punctuality us required, as would be expected in the workplace.

Part Two: Level 1 Diploma

In the remainder of the course you will complete a range of units which may include:
  • The role of the carer at mealtimes
  • Investigating rights and responsibilities at work
  • Managing your health at work
  • Health and social care needs
  • Personal care in health and social care
  • Creative activities for children
  • Learning experiences for children and young people
  • Creative and leisure activities for adults in health and social care
  • Job opportunities in health and social care
  • Health and social group project
You will also undertake an appropriate placement and work at improving your functional skills in maths and English.



Entry Requirements

You need to be working at Entry 3/Level 1 English.


Assessment

The course is internally assessed by the completion of assignments. Exams are required for functional skills.


Where does this Lead

Successful students could apply for apprenticeships, employment or further study at level 2.
