Leadership & Management ILM Certificate Level 3

The Institute of Leadership and Management offers a wide range of qualifications covering all aspects of leadership and management. Over 90,000 people a year register for an ILM qualification, gaining the crucial skills and knowledge to improve their performance at work. The Level 5 qualifications in Leadership and Management are designed for practicing middle managers, helping them to develop their skills and experience, improve performance and prepare for senior management responsibility.

About the Course

You are able to start the online course leading to the ILM Level 5 Award in Leadership and Management at almost any time of the academic year. The course takes approximately nine months to complete; this can be longer or shorter depending on your available study time. You are expected to study for at least three hours a week. On successful completion of the Award you can upgrade to the Certificate. Or, alternatively, you may prefer to enrol for the Certificate which takes approximately 15 months to complete.

Success in gaining ILM qualifications at the Sheffield College has been outstanding - we are able to offer selected level ILM units online as shown below. Additional units are currently being developed; contact us for further information. Flexibility in unit choice allows the qualification to be tailored to meet the needs of the individual and employer.

Key Units

We currently offer the following units online:

  • Leading Innovation and Change (5 credits)
  • Managing Projects in the Organisation (4 credits)
  • Assessing Your Own Leadership Capability and Performance (6 credits)

To achieve the Award you must study a minimum of six credits from the above units. A full list of units can be found on the ILM website.
You will be given access to high quality online course materials written by a specialist teacher. You are expected to work through the materials, completing formative tasks. At the end of each unit, you will be expected to complete an assignment. Subject to demand, we can arrange for individual face-to-face tutorials and/or group workshops.

You will receive six months’ trial membership of the ILM, giving access to a range of resources and services including a specialist online portal which can be used to enhance and supplement your continuing professional development (CPD) requirements. Another benefit to studying members is ILM’s management magazine, “Edge” which can be accessed online or in hard copy format. There is also the opportunity to attend evening events with input from a guest speaker and network with other members.

This is a full cost course; no funding is available. The 24+ Advanced Learning Loan is not accepted on this course.
