Leadership & Management ILM Award L4 Online

The Institute of Leadership and Management offers a wide range of qualifications covering all aspects of leadership and management. Over 90,000 people a year register for an ILM qualification, gaining the crucial skills and knowledge to improve their performance at work. The Level 4 qualifications in Leadership and Management are designed for new and aspiring middle managers. The qualifications help learners to really get to grips with their role, gain comprehensive business knowledge, and develop the technical skills they need to lead effectively at this level.

About the Course

You are able to start the online course leading to the Level 4 Award in Leadership and Management at almost any time of the academic year. The Award takes approximately 12 months to complete.

Success in gaining ILM qualifications at the Sheffield College has been outstanding - we are able to offer selected level ILM units online as shown below. Additional units are currently being developed; contact us for further information. Flexibility in unit choice allows the qualification to be tailored to meet the needs of the individual and employer.

Key Units

We currently offer the following units online:

  • Understanding the Management Role to Improve Management Performance (4 credits)
  • Managing Risk in the Workplace (3 credits)
  • Developing Your Leadership Style (4 credits)
  • Motivating People in the Workplace (2 credits)

To achieve the Award you have to achieve a minimum of five credits and study at least two units from the above list. A full list of units is available on the ILM website.

You will be given access to high quality online course materials written by a specialist teacher. You are expected to work through the materials completing formative tasks. At the end of each unit, you will be expected to complete an assignment. Subject to demand, we can arrange for individual face-to-face tutorials and/or group workshops.

You will receive six months’ trial membership of the ILM, giving access to a range of resources and services including a specialist online portal which can be used to enhance and supplement your continuing professional development (CPD) requirements. Another benefit to studying members is ILM’s management magazine, “Edge” which can be accessed online or in hard copy format. There is also the opportunity to attend evening events with input from a guest speaker and network with other members.
