Leisure Operations Apprenticeship Level 2

This apprenticeship programme develops the knowledge and practical/technical skills for those working as an apprentice in the Sport, Leisure & Recreation sector.


About the Course

Leisure Operations apprentices are either;

  • Based with an employer 4 days a week, and attend college 1 day a week (on a day release basis) for knowledge, portfolio building and assessments.
  • Alternatively apprentices can complete this framework in the work-place supported by a tutor and by accessing online resources.
The college has links with a range of employers and will try to place you in employment, however this cannot be guaranteed so we advise you to look for your own employer.

On this unit based course you will learn about:

  • Promote health, safety and welfare in active leisure and recreation
  • Support equality and diversity in active leisure and recreation
  • Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation

Assessment

The course is assessed using a variety of methods including gathering of work-based evidence into a portfolio. In addition to portfolio assessment you will undertake on-going practical assessments. The certificate in leisure operations also uses assignments, oral exams, multiple choice examination and practical tests.


Where does this Lead

Successful students can continue in to employment or they can progress to further study or a Level 3 Leisure Management Apprenticeship programme.

Staff and Facilities:
You will learn from a highly experienced team of staff with a range of sport and active leisure industry backgrounds. All tutors hold relevant sport and recreation qualifications. Individuals who attend day release at College will also have access to College facilities including:

  • Fitness Centre
  • 3G Astroturf pitches
  • Large sports hall

Will the course suit me? 
This course is suitable for those who wish to gain a recognised qualification while in employment and develop their careers within the Sport, Leisure and Recreation industry. You will need to be practically minded and be prepared to do some study in your own time.

Qualification Title:
The qualification will form part of the Apprenticeship framework for Leisure Operations and you will gain a City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in active Leisure, Learning and Well-being Operational Service. In addition you will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Leisure Operations and a Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning.

Additional Qualifications
In addition to your main NVQ Diploma qualification you will also study;

  • Functional Skills in English and Maths (as required)
  • One additional Level 2 Certificate in Leisure Operations
  • Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning
