Motor Vehicle Body & Paint Level 2 Diploma

This course is designed to build on your knowledge from Level 1 and continue to develop a variety of skills necessary to build a career in the industry.

About the Course

This Level 2 qualification covers technical needs for today’s motor vehicle repair industry, including basic body repair techniques and procedures. It provides essential knowledge for the body repairer working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist body repair shops.

Key Units

You will study both the theory and practical aspects of the following: 

  • Removing and fitting non-welded non-structural body panels
  • Removing and replacing non-structural body panels
  • Repairing non-structural body panels
Normally students start on Level 1 to gain the basic skills before progressing onto this Level 2 course.

The course is approximately 50% theory and 50% practical. Theory lessons covering the required technology are classroom based, giving you the opportunity for taking notes to aid your studies. Practical lessons take place in the motor vehicle workshops and give you the opportunity to develop the skills needed to pass the assessments. 

Functional Skills lessons also form an important part of your course. They include Maths, English and ICT to help improve your skills in these areas.

Practical Assessment and Exams.

Your progress will be reviewed regularly in tutorial sessions.

Where does this Lead

This qualification acts as the Technical Certificate part of a Level 2 Apprenticeship, with a suitable workplace you could join an Apprenticeship program and complete the NVQ part of the qualification. 

Current students should apply through the internal progression system with the help of their Tutor Mentor. Progression forms must be signed by your tutor.

Future Opportunities

Career opportunities include working in Accident Repair establishments, as a Body Repair Technician or Vehicle Refinisher.

All applicants should have a willingness and a desire to study on a motor vehicle course, be able to take in technical information and demonstrate practical ability in a workshop setting.

Extra Costs

You will need to bring your own overalls and safety boots for workshop sessions; all other safety equipment will be provided.

You will be given passwords for our online learning materials and the college has a comprehensive library for you to read suitable textbooks on the subject. However, you may wish to purchase your own copies for the following reccommended texts:
