Plumbing & Gas Fitting Apprenticeship Level 3

With a Plumbing Apprenticeship, you will learn about the installation and maintenance of plumbing, domestic heating and gas systems and components. Many Apprentices go on to gain employment within the plumbing and heating industry, often with their apprenticeship employer.

About the Course

During a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Plumbing you will learn about maintaining a safe working environment when undertaking complex plumbing work activities. At Level 3 there is also the option to study a gas qualification (ACS), including working with boilers or an environmental route (Rainwater Harvesting). You will continue to develop the skills learnt at Level 2 and work on more complex plumbing systems, un-vented hot water systems and current water regulations. You could be working in either a domestic or commercial setting to develop your skills as a plumber/gas fitter.

You will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week with a suitable employer. This will include one day per week attendance at college. You are encouraged to look for your own placement. The college will help you to find a suitable placement but the emphasis is on you to find an apprenticeship vacancy.

The day you are in college you will practice and develop the skills acquired in the workplace. You will be taking part in both workshop and theory sessions learning how to complete new tasks. You will have chance to work on your portfolio and write up what you have learnt in the workplace. You will need to provide boots and overalls for the workshop sessions.
