Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements but those in education are expected to complete their current learning programme. You will be asked to complete an assessment of your maths and English skills at interview to help decide which level of study is right for you.
 
 

Preparation for Animal Care Level 2

The course is taught by experienced tutors who have relevant industrial experience, including work with the RSPCA, veterinary nursing and environmental conservation.


Key Units

This course will provide you with a comprehensive grounding for a possible rewarding career within the Animal Care setting. The course will give you the opportunity to achieve the knowledge, understanding and skills required to progress further in education.

There is a classroom element of the course where you will enhance your personal and social skills and employability skills. There is no work experience or placement as part of this course. You will study Functional Maths and English as part of your course, with an exam when you are ready.

Assessment

All units are assessed and graded through some written work and practical activities. You need to have good time management skills and be able to work to targets and deadlines. You will have an exam in Maths and English when you are ready.


Where does this Lead

On successful completion you could progress on to the Animal Care Entry 3 or An EDEXCEL BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Land-Based Studies should enable you to progress into careers such as: working in animal sanctuaries, kennels & catteries, animal charities, pet shops and grooming salons.

Students who achieve the EDEXCEL BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Land-Based Studies should be able to progress onto the EDEXCEL BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care.
