Sport Access to HE

This access course is a great way for learners who have been out of education for a while to get the knowledge and skills they need to progress on to a Higher Education course. You'll study the basic elements of sport like anatomy and fitness, as well as nutrition and even sport psychology. At the same time you'll also get the skills you'll need to succeed in higher education like academic research and essay writing.

About the Course

This is a 1-year course specifically designed to equip people who are returning to education after a break with the knowledge and skills you'll need to progress on to a higher education qualification. It's an ideal starting point for anyone who doesn't quite have the right qualifications for a degree level course or perhaps wants a change in career.

You'll study all the basic elements of sports like health and fitness, nutrition and anatomy, as well as looking at some wider areas like the psychology of sport. Many students progress on to study Sport Science or PE & coaching at university, but there are many other opportunities available to you upon completion.

All students will have a Personal Tutor to support them during their course and to give guidance on university applications. Whilst there is some provision within the programme for students to work with their tutor students are also expected to undertake independent study. Personal research, revision and work on assignments should take up as much time as your timetabled classes in college.

Course feedback from previous students:

"The course did exactly what it said it would - it got me to where I wanted to go!"
"I wasted the opportunities I was given at school, I just wasn't mature enough to realise it then. This course gave me the opportunity to make up for that."
