Sport & Exercise Science BTEC Level 3 Diploma

This course will suit you if you wish to take A levels alongside your BTEC qualification to go to university to pursue a career in Physiotherapy or if you wish to retake GCSE Maths and English alongside your BTEC and pursue an apprenticeship or fulltime work in the fitness industry as a fitness instructor after college. During this course you will gain an introduction to working in a fitness suite and carrying out fitness tests and planning exercise sessions. You will get a solid understanding of the skills & knowledge of sports massage and sports injury diagnosis and treatment which are needed to be successful in the fitness industry. You will also develop your existing skills and knowledge of sports coaching.

Successful students could progress onto university/higher education or into employment. Areas of progression could include sport and exercise therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, teaching and sport and cultural Studies.

Qualification Title:

  • Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Sport & Exercise Sciences which is accepted for entry to university and attracts UCAS tariff points equivalent to 3 A levels.
  • BTEC Sport courses are assessed mostly by course work and practical assessments however there will also be some exams.

What else will I gain? 
If you study GSCE’s alongside your diploma you will have the opportunity to take part in 100 hours of work experience and you will be encouraged to improve your employability skills. All students who study this diploma will be able to take part in a variety of enrichment activities such as sports clubs and trips and you will also be able to gain additional qualifications such as a fitness instructors course, coaching courses or a pool lifeguard qualification.
