This Sport level 2 programme, with an Exercise and Fitness pathway, combines a mix of theory and practical sport. You will learn about practical sports performance, fitness testing and training, injury in sport, planning and leading safe sport and leisure activity, sport facility operations and sport/leisure event organisation.
Your programme includes a 4 day residential stay which is organised in partnership with SWFCs National Citizenship Service (NCS) scheme. Through this, you will gain experience of a range of sporting and outdoor activities and undertake some work experience.
Other course enrichment activities can include visits to sport organisations and venues. You may have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications such as a YMCA Gym Instructor Level 1 Award.
You also have the opportunity to take part in a range of sports both recreationally and competitively including the chance to compete in our football and basketball teams in the British Colleges leagues.
On your programme you will study for English and Maths qualifications, if you do not already hold a minimum GCSE grade C.
You will be expected to work independently outside of taught class time to complete course work assignments.
4 GCSEs at A*-D grades (or acceptable alternatives) including English Language.
Level 2 Sport courses are assessed mostly by course work and practical assessments, however there will also be some exams.
Successful completion of this course with good attendance, punctuality and tutor recommendation could lead to one of our sport full time level 3 programmes including our BTEC Sport (Coaching, Development and Fitness) with an exercise and fitness pathway. You also have the opportunity to progress to one of our sport apprenticeship programmes or other appropriate course.
Future career opportunities could include working in a leisure/sport centre or as a gym instructor.
