Entry Requirements
Candidates must be aged 16 for assessment. An appropriate level of fitness to carry out a sports massage and an interest in fitness and/or sport. It is recommended by the awarding body that applicants complete the level 3 in Swedish Body Massage prior to them starting this sports massage programme. Candidates MUST complete an application form and attend an interview before an offer of a place can be made.
 
 

Sport Massage & Therapy VTCT Level 3 Diploma

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy has been designed to provide students with the prerequisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work in an unsupervised capacity as a sports massage practitioner with dysfunctional tissue, enabling a successful learner to start up their own business or join an already established practice.

Assessment

Assessment will take place throughout the course. 


You must pass all assessment elements to achieve the qualification:
  • One externally set written examination

Completion of sports massage portfolio, tasks including: 
  • Client Assessment
  • Sports Massage Techniques ­ pre/post and preventative
  • Portfolio worksheets coving a range of such as nutrition and health & safety


Where does this Lead

On completion of the course you are able to gain professional body recognition with the Sports Massage Association (SMA). The common progression route is becoming a sports massage practitioner, however other suitable progression routes are: Level 4 and 5 VTCT qualifications in sport massage or Foundation Degrees and Degrees in Sports Therapy.

Attendance: 2 evenings per week at Sheffield College City site (3 hour sessions).


Financial Assistance: Those Learners who are aged 24+ will be eligible to apply for a Student Loan.
