The Supported Work Skills course aims to help you learn the skills needed in the work place. You will spend one day a week with some of our off-site partners whilst also developing your Maths, English and ICT skills.
The Supported Work Skills course aims to help you learn skills needed in the work place. This may be a supported work environment. You will probably have had some college experience already on either the Personal Progress Pathway or Vocational Pathway. You will have an individual learning plan and take part in practical activities that help you develop skills for work. You will spend 1 day a week preparing for a work placement and then at your placement. You will spend 1 day a week with some of our off site partners. You will also be able to take part in a range of vocational options. English, Maths and ICT skills will be developed as appropriate. The course is 4 days a week.
This course will suit you if you are a young person with a learning difficulty or disability and learn best with a high level of support in a small group. You are likely to have an EHCP.
It usually takes a year to complete this course .
Units studied may include; Maintaining a Work Experience, Volunteering, Taking Part in a Community Activity, Job Seeking Skills.
You will be asked to take part in a residential for which there is a cost. The learner support fund helps those entitled towards this cost.
