Entry Requirements
You need to be 18 years or above, working in a school classroom setting, in a paid or voluntary capacity, have 6 months childcare experience, a minimum of 2 days or equivalent in the setting, have the head teacher’s approval to undertake the programme, have achieved GCSE or the equivalent at grade D or above OR hold a level 1 qualification in both Numeracy and Literacy, (Certificates have to be seen).

This is a QCF work-based qualification through City & Guilds for people working in a school classroom setting in a level 2 capacity with children aged between 5-18 years, who wish to gain a nationally recognised qualification.


About the Course

This is a QCF work-based qualification through City & Guilds for people working in a school classroom setting in a level 2 capacity with children aged between 5-18 years, who wish to gain a nationally recognised qualification.


Key Units

This qualification enables people to develop their skills and knowledge and prove their competence whilst working in an appropriate school environment.

In a level 2 role you will be working under supervision.

It covers a minimum of 11 units of work, including:

  • Child and Young Person development
  • Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
  • Support learning activities
