Workskills Level 1

The Supported Work Skills course aims to help you learn skills needed in the work place. This may be a supported work environment.

About the Course

You will probably have had some college experience already on either the Personal Progress Pathway or Vocational Pathway. You will have an individual learning plan and take part in practical activities that help you develop skills for work. You will spend 1 day a week preparing for a work placement and then at your placement. You will spend 1 day a week with some of our off site partners. You will also be able to take part in a range of vocational options. English, Maths and ICT skills will be developed as appropriate. The course is 4 days a week.

This course will suit you if you are a young person with a learning difficulty or disability and learn best with a high level of support in a small group. It usually takes a year to complete this course and together we would decide where you could progress to. Many young people progress out of college into supported, voluntary or paid employment, and other community activities. Some young people progress onto other vocational courses in college.

Where does this Lead

When it is time for students to leave college, we aim for them to have a supported progression to other placements or providers. Students may progress into voluntary work, supported employment, paid work or other vocational courses.
