English GCSE Online

at The Sheffield College and in association with the Royal Forest of Dean College and the Southern Regional College

English GCSE Online is a very successful course developed by staff working for The Sheffield College. The course can be taken from the comfort of your own home or workplace via your computer. You will be taught by your own tutor who will give you lots of support and pay detailed attention to helping you achieve the best possible GCSE grade. It offers a flexible way of learning.

Who Is It For?

English GCSE Online is suitable for people living in the United Kingdom who don't already have an English GCSE qualification and who find it difficult to get to a traditionally taught classroom-based course.

English GCSE requires students to be fluent speakers of English. This course is not suitable for students who are still learning to speak and write English as an additional language to their home language. If this applies to you and you are reasonably fluent in English, you might like to consider applying for our online IELTS Preparation course.

Accreditation

The course leads to an English GCSE qualification (grades A* to C) from the Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC).

Results

The course has achieved almost a 100% success rate since it started in September 2001. Almost every student who has completed has achieved a grade C or above. On average, 60% of students have achieved a grade A or A*. We are very proud of this outstanding achievement. You too could be part of this success.

Where You Can Study

The course is offered by The Sheffield College, the Royal Forest of Dean College and Southern Regional College.

If you live in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Monmouthshire or Worcestershire, you will be a student of the Royal Forest of Dean College. Your tutor will be based there and you will sit the exam there. If you live in Northern Ireland, you will be a student of the Southern Regional College where your tutor will be based.

If you live elsewhere in the UK, you will be a student of The Sheffield College. Your tutor will be from The Sheffield College. You will be able to sit the exam in Sheffield or we will try to find you an exam centre closer to where you live.

If you live in Spain, we can offer you the opportunity of studying with The Sheffield College and sitting the exam in Spain. Unfortunately, with the exception of people living in Spain, we cannot take applications from people who do not normally live in the UK. However, we welcome applications from UK nationals who are temporarily living overseas who can return to the UK to take the exam.
