In November of 2017, 65 students studying sport at ROC Nijmegen School in Holland spent two weeks in Sheffield as part of the European Union’s Erasmus+ project. The project was organised by our International Department, and included a packed schedule of sporting activities during the students' two-week stay.
During their stay, the group of 17 - 24 year-olds took part in an action packed programme including boxing, curling, football, gymnastics, hill walking, ice hockey, skating and orienteering. Organisations that supported the programme included Attercliffe Gymnastics Academy, Ice Sheffield, Sheffield United Football Club Academy, Ingle Boxing Gym, Sheffield Wednesday Football Club and Sheffield Steeldogs Ice Hockey Club.
The students also stayed with a number of local families as part of the college's homestay programme, where International students live with local families, who cook the students meals and show them around the city in their spare time.
"It is a good experience [for the students] to see how the sports culture is in a different country. Because of the variety in the sport programme, the students were able to experience different kinds of training. The host families made them feel at home and they had the time of their lives.” - Leontine Toussaint; ROC Nijmegen School
This programme is open to students from a variety of European countries, please contact the International Office on email@example.com for further details.
