The Sheffield Cook Book: Second Helpings features 80 of the best recipes from the city’s culinary community – showcasing the secrets to their success.
Around 100 guests including chefs, restaurant owners and food businesses attended the event, held at the College’s Silver Plate Restaurant on January 10th. Guests were served some of the dishes featured in the book.

Lyn Sale, Head of Catering at The Sheffield College, said: "We were delighted to host this event. The city has a thriving catering and hospitality scene of which we are an integral part. We train the next generation of catering and hospitality talent in the skills that employers need, and in our award winning training restaurant that is very popular with the public."
The Silver Plate Restaurant was recently awarded an AA College Rosette Highly Commended. The food is contemporary, and uses commodities sourced as much as possible within a 20-mile radius. Some ingredients, such as the herbs, are grown and picked from a growing area in the campus grounds.
The College offers a range of bakery, catering and hospitality and patisserie courses. New developments include a foundation degree in bakery and patisserie technology that started this academic year.
