The Sheffield College has decided to locate A Level courses at one campus in future instead of two sites to consolidate provision.
As a result, some A Level courses will move from Peaks campus to Hillsborough campus, which has the College’s largest A Level programme, starting in September 2016.

What is happening to A Level courses at Peaks campus?
A Level courses are moving from Peaks campus, on Waterthorpe Greenway, to Hillsborough campus, on Livesey Street, starting from this September. The Sheffield College will continue to offer a full A Level programme in the north of the city at our Hillsborough campus.
Who will be affected by the move?
The move will affect some school leavers who have applied to join the College in September and have accepted an offer to study A Levels at our Peaks campus. We have written to those new applicants this week to advise them that they will be provided with an alternative A Level place in the same subject at Hillsborough campus for this September. Letters were posted first class on June 21st, and our Learner Recruitment Team made follow-up calls on June 22nd.
Will current A Level students at Peaks campus have to move campus?
No. All of our current students, approximately 50, who have already started their A Levels at Peaks will be able to complete their A Levels at Peaks. They will finish as planned in June 2017. We have written to those students this week to reassure them of that. Letters were posted first class on June 21st.
Why are A Level courses moving to Hillsborough campus?
Hillsborough campus has a well-established reputation for A Level provision, and is where most of our A Level courses are already based. A full A Level programme will run at Hillsborough campus, which has a vibrant A Level student community.
Are A Level subjects being reduced as a result of this decision?
No. There are 10 A Level subjects that have been available at Peaks campus and all of those will continue to be offered at Hillsborough with the exception of one subject – philosophy.
Does this decision affect any other courses at Peaks campus?
No. Peaks campus has a strong vocational course offer. All of the other courses, including the full range of vocational qualifications, are unaffected and will continue as planned at Peaks campus.
Why has this decision been taken?
The Sheffield College is consolidating its A Level offer and believes it can best achieve that by providing A Levels at one campus. Hillsborough campus has a well-established reputation for A Level courses. It is where most of our A Level courses are already based, and has a vibrant student community as well as £8.8 million new facilities for the creative industries.
Will I get help with travel costs if I want to transfer my A Level course place starting in September 2016 from Peaks campus to Hillsborough campus?
Yes. Applicants who have accepted an A Level offer at Peaks commencing September 2016, and want to relocate to Hillsborough, will receive a free travel pass from the College for the duration of their A Level programme.
