On Friday 13th March the college took the very difficult decision to close the restaurant temporarily due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak to protect our students, staff and our valued clientele.
We have contacted all those that had reservations and wish to thank everyone for their understanding at this incredibly difficult time.
Currently, we will be closed until further notice and hope to reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. Bookings from Friday 1st May will be contacted nearer the time to let you know our current position.
If you have made a deposit towards your booking and would like to rearrange for a later date please let us know and we will of course move your booking and honour your deposit. Those that wish to cancel and be refunded will of course be reimbursed in full. Refunds will be issued as soon as the college reopens.
At present the college is closed for both staff and students. The Silver Plate team are working remotely, but can be contacted over email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by phone on 0114 260 2060.

Nestled within our City Campus overlooking the Sheffield skyline, The Sheffield College has a little culinary secret we would like to share with you – The Silver Plate Restaurant.
Run by our fantastic Catering and Hospitality students under the supervision of our expert staff (two of whom are Master Chefs of Great Britain), the department has recently been awarded a much coveted Hospitality Guild gold accreditation, with Patisserie and Food & Beverage Service also being recognised as Centres for Excellence. In addition, The Silver Plate Restaurant has been awarded the prestigious AA College Rosette Highly Commended award – one of only 20 colleges nationally to hold such an accolade.
Serving exquisite, varied, and locally sourced food throughout the week, the award winning Silver Plate Restaurant allows students to showcase their talent as we host tasting menus, lunch and evening meals, and our sought after themed nights to the public.
The Silver Plate has superb links with a range of top industry chefs, including Rupert Rowley (former Head Chef of Michelin starred restaurant Fischer’s at Baslow) and Tom Lawson of double AA Rosette restaurant, Rafters. These chefs regularly provide our students with guest lectures and support them to provide our customers with the highest quality food and service.
It's not just our teaching staff who are outstanding in their field! In 2019 Sheffield College baking students scooped a haul of awards in a national industry competition, winning nine gold, three silver and four bronze awards in the annual Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees (ABST) competitions.
We also have a team of young chefs who have reached the final stages of the Zest Quest Asia competition - watch this space for their results!
Our lunch menus are based on seasonal, fresh produce and change regularly, so you're always in store for something delicious and new.

For just £25 per head you can experience a gourmet set menu inspired by Master Chefs from around the world; including canapes, four specially created courses and petit fours.
Recent gourmet evenings have included bespoke menus by guest chefs such as Dan Ashmore, Ross Sneddon and Rupert Rowley, who headed up the launch of our new MSK Academy.

Wine and Dine Evenings
Sample our fabulous gourmet tasting menu for just £25 per person, or for an additional £10 per head you can accompany your meal with a flight of specially selected wine to complement and enhance each course (100ml measures of red/white wine and a 50ml measure of dessert wine).
Please let us know at the time of booking if you would like to add the wine flight to your meal.

The Silver Plate is open Tuesday - Friday during term time (please click here for term dates).
Tuesday - Friday: please arrive between 12pm - 12:30pm.
Thursdays: 6pm arrival for 6:30pm service.
Please note that on-site car parking spaces for lunchtime service are limited to Blue Badge holders; however there is both on-street parking and various pay and display parking available within walking distance of the college (you can find more details here).
For dinner service guests are welcome to use the college's on-site car park from 5.30pm onward.
