The BTEC Higher National Certificate and Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts (Technical Arts) Media Make-up provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the media make-up and hair artistry sector and national recognition by employers allows direct progression to work in the sector, whether in freelance, self-employed or employed roles. Students are encouraged to explore different techniques and effects in hair and make-up styling for photographic shoots, as well as developing skills in sculpting and casting to produce special make-up effects, prosthetics and character creation. Their academic skills are underpinned by regular academic tutorials focussing on research, academic writing and presentations, all of which are assessed formatively to assist in planning their summative submissions.
