About this Course

During this two-year programme, students will focus on scientific practical and analytical techniques, health and safety, data collection and processing, ethics in science and wider experimental equipment and techniques.

Key Units

Designed with employers to give you the industry skills you need in order to start your career within the scientific industry, you will cover a whole range of health and science related topics. By studying this qualification, students will develop an understanding of the below core elements:
  • Working within the health and science sector
  • Health, safety and environmental regulations in the health and science sector
  • Application of safety, health and environmental practices in the workplace
  • Managing information and data
  • Ethics of science
  • Scientific methodology
  • Experimental equipment and techniques
  • Core science concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules, genetics, microbiology and immunology

Occupational specific content includes:
  • Students will develop the relevant laboratory science knowledge and skills necessary
  • Perform a range of appropriate scientific techniques to collect experimental data in a laboratory setting, complying with regulations and requirements
  • Plan, review, implement and suggest improvements to scientific tasks relevant to a laboratory setting
  • Identify and resolve issues with scientific equipment or data errors

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above including English Language, Maths and Science.

Students will engage in high quality industry placements which enable them to apply their learning in real life situations. These placements will provide learners with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for a career in science.

To achieve the overall T Level qualification, students will be supported by an expert team of both college and industry professionals to complete a minimum of 315 hours in placement.

Students will train in our state-of-the-art science labs, equipped with the latest machines and instruments.
