About this Course

During this 2-year programme, students will develop knowledge and understanding in a broad range of topics such as programming, coding, the use of data and the different platforms of delivery in the digital industry. It’s a fast moving and cutting-edge subject, where you’ll learn how to analyse problems and identify solutions through computer programs, developing and practising the skills needed to kick-start a career in the digital sector.

Key Units

Designed with employers to give you the industry skills you need in order to start your career within the digital industry, you will cover a whole range of digital-related topics. By studying this qualification, students will develop an understanding of:


  • How digital technologies impact business
  • Using data in software design
  • Using digital technologies to analyse and solve problems
  • Digital environments, including physical, virtual and cloud environments
  • Emerging technical trends, such as Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), Blockchain and 3D printing
  • Testing software, hardware and data
  • Digital tools for project management and collaboration

In addition to the core content, each student will also develop skills in digital production, design and development. The content will include:


  • Analysing a problem to define requirements and acceptance criteria aligned to user needs
  • Designing, implementing, and testing software and creating solutions
  • Changing, maintaining and supporting software
  • Planning digital projects

Entry Requirements

Five GCSE subjects at Grade 4 or above including English and Maths.

Assessment

Externally assessed exams and externally assessed project and practical assessments.

Where does this Lead

Students who successfully complete this qualification will be able to progress into employment, university level study or higher level Apprenticeships.

Students will engage in high quality industry placements which enable them to apply their learning in real life situations. These placements will provide learners with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for skilled employment in the digital sector. 



To achieve the overall T Level programme, students will be supported by an expert team of both college and industry professionals to complete a minimum of 315 hours in placement. 



Students will train in our state-of-the-art computing labs, equipped with the latest software and computer programmes.
