About this Course

This qualification aims to raise your awareness of mental health and a range of mental health problems. It develops knowledge and understanding of prevalent mental health problems and how to support, interact, and work with individuals who experience them.

UK employers from every sector are increasingly keen that their staff have a sound understanding of a range of mental health problems. 

The demand for mental health skills and resources has been growing steadily throughout the last decade, but since COVID-19 that demand has increased significantly. Employees and employers have found the importance of mental health awareness at the forefront of their agendas.

  • Unit 2: Understanding stress
  • Unit 3: Understanding anxiety
  • Unit 4: Understanding phobias
  • Unit 5: Understanding depression
  • Unit 6: Understanding postnatal depression
  • Unit 7: Understanding bipolar disorder
  • Unit 8: Understanding schizophrenia
  • Unit 9: Understanding dementia
  • Unit 10: Understanding eating disorders
  • Unit 11: Understanding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Unit 12: Understanding Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Unit 13: Understanding Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Entry Requirements

There are no specific qualifications required to enrol on this qualification. Acceptance onto the qualification is based on a phone or online interview with the Tutor.

Learners must be aged 19 years or over.

Assessment

You will complete an online workbook, supported by the Tutor as required.

Where does this Lead

Students who complete this qualification can progress to:

  • Other specialist Level 2 certificates for the health and social care sector
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care

Future Opportunities

Job roles and career pathways that may be available to students upon completion of this certificate include specialist roles in the health or social care sector, relating to mental health.

These level 2 courses are free if you are a resident of South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (comprising of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield), as these qualifications can be fully-funded at no cost to you!
