About this Course

Practical lessons take place in the motor vehicle workshops and give you the opportunity to develop the skills needed to pass the assessments. You will learn about safety in the workshop, the tools and specialist equipment and how to carry out basic checks and repairs on the vehicles. Theory lessons will cover the required technology. These are classroom based, giving you the opportunity to take notes to aid your studies.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements needed to join, but those in education will be expected to complete their current learning programme. 


You will be asked to complete an assessment of your English / Maths skills at interview, to help decide which level of study is right for you.

Assessment

Knowledge is assessed using on line exams, and also by oral questioning during practical assessments.


Practical assessments will be carried out in the motor vehicle workshops following training and practice in the required competencies. 

Students will be required (with assistance) to build a portfolio of their work.

Where does this Lead

Following success in this course you can apply to join a Level 1 Motor Vehicle course in Mechanical or Body & Paint.

Future Opportunities

Career opportunities include working in motor vehicle repair establishments of fast fit outlets, as a repair technician or parts specialist.
