Every year since 1998 The Sheffield College has welcomed around 15-20 Japanese students from Keiai Gakuen High School in Chiba, Japan, to study at the college on a one year course.
Students lived with an English host family for 9 months, and learnt a wide range of subjects including English, Maths, European Cuisine and Sport.
Students developed their listening, reading and writing skills in English throughout the year, as well as gaining confidence in speaking English, being independent and socialising with people from different cultures and nationalities.
Every year our Summer School welcomes more than 40 Japanese students fro, Nihon University Narashino Snr. High School for a 3 week, intensive English Language and Activities course.
Students have a wonderful experience living with their Homestay families in Sheffield, and studying at The Sheffield College. In addition to their studies, the students discovered English culture and heritage by visiting Chatsworth Estate, the historical town of York, Manchester and the surrounding Sheffield area.
Students from France and the Netherlands have had an amazing time studying at our Hillsborough campus; learning sports coaching and improving their football skills by training in our gym and participating in friendly football matches with local young footballers.
This two-week course is very popular and offers students a chance to live with our local host families for the duration of their stay. Students also have the option to visit Liverpool and Manchester football stadiums during their course.
Students from Brazil were offered a bespoke 4-month study programme with The Sheffield College, including lessons in English and Tourism.
Students were able to complete their Brazilian study programmes with courses in Sheffield, as well as improving their English language skills.
At the end of their studies, our students organised and catered an International Evening in our on-site restaurant, The Silver Plate.
