The students won La Parade Des Chefs College Canapé Competition 2017 at Salon Culinaire earlier this year.
Salon Culinaire is one of the UK’s largest chef competition programmes held at the Great Hospitality Show at the NEC in Birmingham.
The event comprises 85 competition categories and attracts chefs from top restaurants, hotels and national organisations as well as universities and colleges.
Ten students completing catering, hospitality and professional chef qualifications won the competition as well as individual gold medals and the best in class category.
Heather Smith, Principal, The Sheffield College, said: “I am so proud of our students and our staff. They are a credit to the College and the hospitality industry and I want to congratulate them for their dedication, commitment and achievement.”
She added: “We are committed to providing a high quality learning experience for all of our students. The high level skills that the catering students have developed by taking part in this competition will help them go far in their future careers.”
Steve Love, Principal Research Chef at McCormick, and a member of the Craft Guild of Chefs, presented the students with their awards at The Sheffield College City campus on Granville Road on June 15th.
He said: “It’s great to see the next generation of food service professionals winning this competition. The students should be very proud of what they have achieved.”
