I feel I have learnt a lot on this Apprenticeship and it has given me so much more confidence when handling animals compared with the previous course I did.
The vets that I work with have been brilliant and have helped me a huge amount whilst I was preparing for my exams. They were able to help me with the theory side of being a Veterinary Nurse, as well as the practical, and have given me the chance to practice different activities.
If I had some advice for people who wanted to be an Apprentice Veterinary Nurse it would be to make sure you are prepared to work hard, have confidence in yourself and put the effort in. If you work hard and make the most of any opportunities you get, you are sure to succeed.
Springfield Veterinary Surgery: "Rachel has been with Springfield Veterinary Surgery since October, having joined us on an Apprenticeship scheme through The Sheffield College. Since joining Rachel has been an amazing asset to our company and is progressing well with her training, both at college and within the practice.
She is a valued member of the team and we are extremely proud that she was awarded Student Veterinary Nurse of the year award."
