The Level 1 Bakery qualification is the first step towards your career in bakery. Designed for people who wish to work in this popular industry, the course will ensure you develop the basic skills needed and become familiar with industrial equipment. Most students would normally start at Level 1 but for some students Level 2 may be more appropriate.
This course further develops the bakery skills that you gained at Level 1, allowing you to develop skills in cake decoration and patisserie, as well as creating bread products. This will prepare you for work in the baking industry at an operational level, in both confectionery and bread production.
Validated by Sheffield Hallam University and developed in consultation with industry, this course will give you the practical skills, technical ability and business knowledge you need for future success in a creative, rewarding and challenging industry.
The course is designed for people wishing to learn and gain valuable skills and knowledge to progress into employment in the food Industry. You will learn about a variety of ingredients, methods and techniques to prepare, mix and finish a variety of sweet and savoury products through bakery in practice and basic food preparation skills.

Our patisserie course not only involves a qualification from City and Guilds, but a whole range of experiences from industry expert masterclasses with guest chefs to catering competitions. Students also could be involved in external activities such as Skills for Chefs and commissions for desserts and chocolate work.
