About this Course

This qualification is for self-employed workers, trainees or young people interested in learning how to weld and acquiring new skills, or for those looking to improve existing welding skills. This qualification is also suitable for adults wanting to change career.

Key Units

There are two levels of training to suit specific needs, each covering a range of different welding processes and techniques. This course can provide learners with an industry recognised qualification (if this option is taken) and the acquisition of skills and knowledge in modern welding processes and techniques.

Students will learn MIG and down hand welding. There is a theory element to each of the processes.Students will also learn about the health and safety associated with welding.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements, just an interest in learning a new skill and a commitment to attend evening classes.

Assessment

To achieve the qualification learners will be primarily assessed in the form of practical tests. Each process is assessed via two weld tests along with an accompanying basic theory test.

Where does this Lead

Students who complete this qualification can progress to Level 3 the following year or into employment as a welder. Students may also choose to do another process at the same level.

Future Opportunities

This qualification will help students to gain employment as a welder.
