About this Course

If you want to develop your knowledge, skills and practical experience to help you prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career and further study in health or social care, this health and social care qualification could be the one for you.

Key Units

This qualification will provide you with a good foundation for many degree courses including diagnostic radiography, oncology and radiotherapy and midwifery. It helps develop study skills, self- confidence and communication skills through group work, role plays and presentations.

Work experience is a compulsory part of your studies. The one day a week placement, arranged with you, is tailored to your future employment or higher education progression.

All Level 3 students must wear a placement uniform while at their work placement. You will also be required to devote time outside of taught classes to produce coursework such as assignments, written reports and presentations to set deadlines.

Level 3 CACHE Health and Social Care is made up of 18 units of study.

You will learn about:

  • Nutrition and public health 
In addition you will study health science units in physiology of fluid balance, biochemistry and science for health.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs grades A*- C / grade 4 or above (or acceptable alternatives), including English Language and Maths.

A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required and will be carried out at the start of the course.

Assessment

CACHE Health and Social Care qualifications are assessed mostly by coursework however there will also be some exams.

Qualification Title
Level 3 CACHE Health and Social Care, which is accepted for entry to university and attracts UCAS tariff points equivalent to 3 A Levels.
