About this Course

This course further develops the bakery skills that you gained at Level 1, allowing you to develop skills in cake decoration and patisserie, as well as creating bread products. This will prepare you for work in the baking industry at an operational level, in both confectionery and bread production.

Key Units

This qualification allows you to develop skills in cake decoration and patisserie, as well as creating bread products. This will prepare you for work in the baking industry at an operational level, in both confectionery and bread production.

You are required to have a full set of specialist equipment/uniform which you should have already have purchased for your previous qualification. 

Approximately 40% of the qualification is theory. You may also be required to carry out research on the internet, either at home or in the learning centre. 

You will also be required to study Functional Skills or GCSE English and Maths if you do not already hold a minimum of GCSE grade C, as many employers ask for a minimum of GCSE grade C in both Maths and English.

Where does this Lead

You could progress onto a Level 3 Patisserie Diploma or a part-time Cake Decoration Level 1 qualification designed to further develop cake decorating skills. You can also progress onto further study for science or technical qualifications leading to test bakery or research and development.

Future Opportunities

Many student go on to pursue careers in professional kitchens and bakeries as bread and dessert specialists.
